171.0. ""dump disk served by HSC & host" message from autogen" by POMPY::LESLIE (Andy Leslie, DEC man walking...) Tue Feb 11 1997 07:29
Since I installed 7.1, the GENFILES phase of autogen produces this
message.
** INFORMATIONAL ** - The Current dump disk _$1$DUA0: is seen to be
served by one HSC or HSJ controller and by a VAX host.
This may simply indicate that one path has not been used
since boot time, or that the disk is dual-pathed between
an HSC/HSJ and a local controller (which can interfere
with dumping), or possibly a hardware problem.
The disk is part of a shadowset, viz:
Device Device Error Volume Free Trans Mnt
Name Status Count Label Blocks Count Cnt
DSA0: Mounted 0 VMS 785607 307 1
$1$DUA0: (HSC000) ShadowSetMember 0 (member of DSA0:)
$1$DUA77: (HSC000) ShadowSetMember 0 (member of DSA0:)
and is only connected via an HSC70 to a standalone VAX 6000 440.
Ideas welcome.
Thanks
Andy

| It appears Autogen is being a tad paranoid over access to the disk
and trying to be helpful and warn you about the non-HSC path...
but it looks like it got it wrong. Please QAR it.
