165.0. "max phy memory on OVMS/AXP?" by HGOVC::PATRICKNG () Mon Feb 10 1997 06:37

    Hi,

I couldn't find the maximum physical memory that OpenVMS Alpha 6.2 can
address on AlphaServer 8400 and 4100.

The SPD specifies the max memory can be addressed by OVMS VAX is 3.5 GB,
but it does not mention on OVMS Alpha.

Please let me know if you know the answer.

    Many thanks,
    Patrick

From the V6.2 SPD:

 Maximum Memory Support

OpenVMS supports the following memory for the systems listed:

 ___________________________________________________________________
 Server_______________Memory________________________________________

 AlphaServer 8400 14 GB

The 4100 is not supported by V6.2 (i thought you need at least V6.2-1H3).
You must check the 1H3 spd for that.

A NOTES> DIR/TITLE=MAX would have shown you (your own!) note 22,
where this same question was already asked and answered.

    Jur,

The customer wants the SPD that you showed on note 165.1. The current
PSD available on the WEB is OpenVMS Operating System for VAX and
    Alpha,Version 7.0 and Version 6.2 Appended. However, I couldn't find
the information that listed on 165.1. I will continue to search. Could
you please mail the SPD to me at hgovc::patrickng?

This is urgent because we are closing a deal very soon.

    Many thanks,
    Patrick

I placed some of the missing SPDs into the documentation areas for
the various recent OpenVMS releases -- see the low notes. Also see
   VTX IR, area SP.
