    I'm working at installing OpenVMS 7.1 on an RZ25L in a DEC 2000-300
    (Jensen) system.  I have a question about the "required PALCode".
    
    In the OpenVMS 7.1 Upgrade Guide, Section 1.2.4, it mentions that the
    required and recommended minimum version of PAL is 5.56 or 1.19,
    depending on your model?   Well, which version do I need for the DEC
    2000-300?
    
    At the >>> prompt, I do SHOW CONFIG and I get
    
       DEC 2000 Model 300 AXP - ROM Version 2.2
       Copyright (c) 1993 Digital Equipment Corporation.
    
       Alpha AXP SRM Firmware Version - 370
       VMS PAL X5.48/OSF PAL X1.35 - Built on 12-FEB-1996 13:08:14.13
    
    
    Since I intend to run VMS, it looks like I don't have the required
    minimum version of PAL code!?! 
    
    I have installed the V3.8 Firmware update that came with the OpenVMS
    7.1 SSB kit, which resulted in the ROM Version 2.2 and SRM version 370
    seen above!
    
    I went ahead and tried installing VMS 7.1, and successfully booted from
    the CD-ROM, getting none of the PALcode warnings the Install guide
    warned me about, so I must have a minimum version installed!!?!
    
    Can someone help me out of this confusion?

	Did you remember to power-cycle the system after upgrading the PALcode?

	Jensen is one of models for which there is no 5.56 PALcode. Your system is fine with 5.48. d.

	Re: .2 Thanks for the Jensen info. Is there a list of other models for which there is no 5.56 PALcode? Looks like I'm about to go on a binge of doing VMS 7.1 upgrades in our area here, and this info could be VERY useful as I evaluate customer environments! Regards, Denny
