Hi all, what about performance adjustments of cluster traffic via two independent FDDI rings, if all members are connected to both rings ? As far as I know, there is no way to force traffic onto one particular adapter, if the other one is equal (buffer size) But I still have the following questions: 1.) Test with a 2-node cluster, 2 Ethernets, each node connected to both ethernets. Disconnecting the "current" LAN --> 3 - 5 seconds of delay, then continuing on the other LAN without any problem, only a slight performance loss when copying a large file. - same with FDDI (not able to test with) - this timeout of approx. 3 - 5 seconds --> a SYSGEN-value ? 2.) Additionally, what happens, if the "current" LAN gets flooded (broadcast storm,..) --> will there be the switch to the other LAN, although some (but not many) packets can be sent, including the LAVC-hello message. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks, Ralph

SPEZKO::CLUSTER is a better spot for VMScluster questions. : As far as I know, there is no way to force traffic onto one : particular adapter, if the other one is equal (buffer size) See the SYS$EXAMPLE:LAVC*.* and *PREFER* tools. : 1.) Test with a 2-node cluster, 2 Ethernets, each node connected : to both ethernets. : Disconnecting the "current" LAN --> 3 - 5 seconds of delay, then : continuing on the other LAN without any problem, only a slight : performance loss when copying a large file. - same with FDDI (not able to test with) - this timeout of approx. 3 - 5 seconds --> a SYSGEN-value ? The PEDRIVER NI port driver polls at 3 second intervals. I don't believe this particular timer is adjustable. : 2.) Additionally, what happens, if the "current" LAN gets flooded : (broadcast storm,..) --> will there be the switch to the other : LAN, although some (but not many) packets can be sent, including : the LAVC-hello message. If one NI fails, SCS will fail over to any alternate NI path available. |
