| re: 8.13
CAUTION!
Although 8.13 says:
From V6.2, one can upgrade to V6.2-1H1, V6.2-1H2, or V6.2-1H3.
This is technically wrong. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UPGRADE USING THE FULL
V6.2-1H1, V6.2-1H2, or V6.2-1H3 KITS! The *correct* way to move from
V6.2 or V6.2-1H* is to apply the partial UPDATE kit, which is a VMSINSTAL
kit, not a PCSI kit.
If you attempt to install the full V6.2-1H1, V6.2-1H2, or V6.2-1H3 kits
as an upgrade, you will receive a warning/error. Do not override the
recommendation to terminate. Instead, discontinue the upgrade and use
the VMSINSTAL update kit.

Digital Internal folk can join Automatic Distribution Service (ADS)

e-mail address, and DTN, as well as the particular ADS kit(s) you

8.16 | How did OpenVMS/Alpha ship? | THEBAY::WIEGLEB | Voracious schools of lottery girls | Mon Mar 24 1997 20:34 | 11 |
| In the March CON-DIST there is mention of OpenVMS/ALPHA Operating
System kits being shipped as part of the CON-DIST CDs beginning in
Dec 1996. Since someone heisted my December CDs, I haven't been able
to find whether the OpenVMS kit was in there. (It's not on the March
CDs.)
Was OpenVMS/Alpha only shipped as a separate package, or did it also
ship as part of the December CON-DIST Layered Products CD package? I'm
still trying to get hold of a copy.

8.17 | Call SSB And Order (It's Cheap) | XDELTA::HOFFMAN | Steve, OpenVMS Engineering | Mon Mar 24 1997 21:10 | 14 |
|
OpenVMS ships as a seperate CD-ROM kit, with a courtesy copy on some
of the LP CD-ROM kit distributions.
OpenVMS Alpha revenue shipped 24-Jan-1997.
If the December CD-ROM distribution went out on time, it didn't have
OpenVMS V7.1 on it.
See the previous notes for how to order a CD-ROM -- the internal kit
price for the CD-ROM is cheap... Also see previous notes for how to
pull over and create a kit from the network kit -- there's a "readme"
in the OpenVMS Alpha kit distribution area that describes the steps.

VMS does (supposedly) now ship with ALL SPL (ConDist) distributions.
This is new as of December.
