	The library routine mrd_strexcept(3mrd) doesn't gracefully
	deal with being given a NULL buffer pointer.  I think this
	is the one case for mrd_strexcept(3mrd) where it should
	return NULL.  If a zero or in appropriate length is used,
	we just won't copy any data...
