	When no carrier is present Read Element Status very reasonably
	sets the exception bit for the non-existant slots.  But, I
	can't find their explaination of the error code (0x83,something
	as I recall).

	Ah, found it...  The documented message is "Cartridge magazine
	is not installed".  I'll add this to the MRD exception messages
	sometime.
