| The basic problem here is that we're not using a VMS ERROR
status for our exit code. I'll get this fixed tomorrow or
Wednesday.
The more interesting question is whether we should have
specific error codes (operating system specific of course)
for the various common failures. The common robot ones are
"Destination full", "source empty", "cartridge unavailable",
"<element-type> Invalid". It would be pretty easy to map
the common operating system ones as well.
But, I suspect there is an non-trivial amount of work to
create a message library for MRU that will let VMS map
our error codes back to useful messages when we exit. If there
is a great need for this, please tell our Product Manager,
Byran Cox (COOKIE::COX).

| I've verified that we're something that will trigger VMS to
recognize that there was an error. While getting our own
facility value may be useful, I'll make a wishlist item.

| Well, we certainly are something at times... I should have
written "we're returning something", which we are also doing
now.

| If your team pursues a mapping of "common robot error" to
operating system specific error codes please contact me. I think
it would be of great value if all the SMS products that work
with jukeboxes/autochangers were to use a common set of error
codes, at least per operating system.
Regarding VMS, as a group we may be able to get new codes assigned
if we have a list of error conditions.
