469.0. "Restoring file created by SLS save fails" by CSC32::V_HEINICKE () Wed May 28 1997 13:56

Hi,

I have a customer who is trying to restore a file from a backup saved by sls.
He could not get it to work. I duplicated as below?

What are we doing wrong and what can we do to make it work?

He has 1 additional problem. When he tries to set the retention date on
a storage class using the gui (retain of 3650) it complains that

"requested retention exceeds storage class limit"

We can do a set or create of the storage class and it accepts the date?
Has this been reported and fixed?

Thanks,

Victoria

PRIV_Victoria_URQUEL > abs lookup disk6:[v_heinicke]login.com/catalog=generic
Unable to show object DISK6:[V_HEINICKE]LOGIN.COM for the following reason
Selection criteria was not found

We get a 'no object of this type found' followed by 'an object entry was not
found in this catalog' when using lookup from the GUI.

It is clearly searching the generic catalog.

469.1Look at catalogCOOKIE::HEISLERChris Heisler, ABS EngineeringWed May 28 1997 15:3214
    Victoria,

Can you try a couple of things? Can you do a storage report file
on the file that you saved and show the output?

Also, can you do a dump of the catalog and see what the filename
    string looks like?

I suspect that ABS is parsing the filename and looking for something
different than what SLS put into the catalog.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Hi Chris,
