445.0. "how to override the expiration date?" by ROM01::MENCHICCHI () Thu Apr 24 1997 05:12

    ABS 2.1

    Question:

	Suppose that I perform a backup with a save request that have
	the Retention Period = 3 days.

    	Suppose that for some reasons I must keep the backup for a more long
	period. How I can tell to ABS to change the expiration date of the
	saveset?
	This is a customer needs.

	Thanks,
	Lorena

    Lorena,

    please see also note 432.

    For the moment I do not see this possibility. In case you are
    absolutely dependend on this data, the only way is to keep the
    cartridge. You can find the information for the whereabouts (Volume
    name/ Saveset name) of the files in question by either using

    $ type ABS_LOG:<SR-name>.log

    or

    $ ABS LOOKUP/catalog=<cat>/OBJECT_Type=<objtype> file_spec/FULL

    or

    $ ABS REPORT SAVE_LOG/catalog=<cat>/BEF=<before>/SINCE=<since>/FULL

    The latter command displays this information for the first include
    specification of a SR only up to ABS V2.1.

     You then have to spare out the cartrige from your MDMS pool to avoid
      having it overwritten. Give it a new pool name to be sure.

     Also mind possible references in the SC !

     Restores can not be done via ABS, after the catalog cleaner removed
      the expired entries from the catalog. You have to use STORAGE
      commands along with the volume name from above and BACKUP using the
      save set name.

    Hope this help.
    Ewald.
