Can someone advise ABS licensing requirements: I can't work out from the 2.1 SPD which licenses I should sell to my customer. My customer is evaluating ABS 2.1 on an Alpha 4100 but will be deploying ABS to backup all the VMS machines in his datacenter, some are clustered and some not (there are 300 VMS systems in total spread over 50 locations). Which machines need server licenses and which need client licenses - I know I need one ABS Server license, I assume other nodes which are being managed by the Server need a Client license. Correct ?. Regards Peter Spreadbury

Peter, Your assumption is correct. Only the machines that act as a server (and you can have multiple servers to accomplish fault tolerance) need a server license (this includes a client license). All other nodes need a client license Hans van Sluis |
