406.0. "Does ABS write Notes to MDMS Db as SLS did?" by ATZIS2::ARCH_R (Raimund ARCH,MCS Austria *791/2259) Tue Mar 25 1997 10:19
Hello,
as a customer complains there are no Notes written to MDMS DB
with a ABS Save request
for example:
$ ABS SAVE/NAME=DLY_VAX/OBJECT=VMS_FILES/LOCK=HOT/INCREMENTAL-
/DATA_SAFETY=CRC/SEQ=OVERLAPPED/RETAIN=15/DATE_SEL=LAST_BACKUP -
SIMDS1SYS:,-
SIMDS1A: ...
$ STOR REP VOL VOL,POOL=SIMDS1/WID=6,FLAG=(FREE,DOWN)/WID=6,NOTES
gives
Volume Database File Report
Volume Pool Status Notes
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
300457 SIMDS1 Alloc SIMDS1SYS: WLY
300458 SIMDS1 Free SIMDS1 incremental all disks
300459 SIMDS1 Free SIM28A: MLY
300460 SIMDS1 Free SIMDS1 incremental all disks
300461 SIMDS1 Free SIMDS1 incremental all disks
300462 SIMDS1 Free SIMDS1 incremental all disks
300463 SIMDS1 Free SIM30A WLY
300464 SIMDS1 Free SIM18A: MLY
300465 SIMDS1 Free SIMDS1 incremental all disks
300466 SIMDS1 Free SIMDS1 incremental all disks
300467 SIMDS1 Alloc
300468 SIMDS1 Alloc
300469 SIMDS1 Alloc
In the example above the Volumes with Note entries have been
used by SLS System Backups.
Question:
Is or will there be a way to force ABS to make NOTE Entries
in the MDMS DB (I know it can be done with STOR ADD...) ?
Regards,
Raimund

| I had a customer asking for the same functionality yesterday as well.

| There's currently no way.
The only way is to go to the product manager (judy COOKIE:: Cross) to get
it implemented into the next version of the product.
