73.0. "Can't Load Y2k Home Page" by CSC32::MEREOS () Thu May 01 1997 09:47

    Has anyone had problems loading the Y2k home page? I use
    Netscape, and the page gets 97% loaded and then hangs.

     I have tried clearning my cache, increasing cache and files
     but to no avail.

    Anyone else having this problem, or have any ideas?

    re .0

    Yeah, what URL?

    I can correctly load

    http://rcwiii.ogo.dec.com/year2000/

    and

    http://www.digital.com:80/year2000/

    The former uses frames so you might need an up to date version of your
    browser.

    Whoops... I thought I pasted the URL in....

    it is...

    http://www.digital.com:80/info/year2000/y2kstat.htm

    This is used by the support staff AND customers to check readiness
    of layered products.

73.4loads -- slowly -- from hereXDELTA::HOFFMANSteve, OpenVMS EngineeringFri May 02 1997 17:4712
   That is a different organization...

   Please contact the folks that maintain that page -- there should be
   an e-mail contact available there -- there is a feedback entry in
   the navigation bar. The feedback URL is:

	http://www.digital.com:80/info/forms/server-comments.html

   That URL does load completely -- and excrutiatingly slowly -- from
   here in ZKO.

    re .3

    You do need to give feedback but the feedback should be that the page
    you are trying to load should be withdrawn. It is huge (784K of HTML) and
    I too had some difficulty getting it to load.

    The page you are using has apparently been replaced by a page hanging
    off the *second* URL that I list in .2. On that page someone has split
    the list of products into 4 separate lists, partitioned by first letter
    of product name. This improves the situation somewhat. I can only
    imagine that it was done because of the problem you are experiencing.

    Thank you so much! I appreciated the pointer to the new "split" page.
    IT works great!
