| Hi,
The info out in various places that OpenVMS is already year 2000 safe
is not coming out of engineering. In most cases this info is coming
from folks who've tested their own environment and found no problems.
We are still completing our formal investigation of OpenVMS source
code, and until that is complete, we cannot make any statement of
readiness that will mean anything.
What we know so far is that we have found no catastrophic problems,
though there are some minor bugs. We also know that a lot of sites
have set the date forward to post-2000 and found no problems in their
configurations.
Examples of bugs so far include 2-digit years in ODS1, ISO9660 AND HIGH
SIERRA CD FORMATs with 2-digit years, and overflow on RT-11 & DOS-11.
In other words, not common stuff that's likely to impact many folks.
We plan to deliver and document year 2000 ready solutions for V7.1 and
V6.2 by the end of calendar year 1997.
Karen.
