70.0. "Large chunks of source code needed for y2k parser" by KZIN::HUDSON (That's what I think) Tue Apr 29 1997 09:20

I am working with a partner who is developing a product which provides a
set of 3gl parsers that look for possible y2k issues in VMS source code.

One of the requests they've made is for sample applications which they can
run through their parsers to check how well they work.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might get such code? I'm looking
for large chunks of source code in the following languages (all VAX/VMS):

	BASIC
	C
	COBOL
	Pascal
	FORTRAN
	PL/I

Thanks

If the proper non-disclosures are signed, why can't we let him test one
of the facilities which have already been done? The known results
    could be supplied as well.

For a very large set of code, try the several FREEWARE CDs that have
been produced. I'm sure DECUS would love to know the status of the
    source code in those kits.

I'm sure there are zillions of sources out there on the net.

Re:.3

.0 did ask for VAX/VMS so I'm not sure how Dr. Dobbs can help!

In addition to the excellent suggestions of using the FREEWARE CD-ROM and all
the DECUS material available on CD (and tape), there are also the OpenVMS source
listings. For a small fee ($500 or so?) and a bit of work with CVTLIS they can
get a considerable quantity of source code for next to nothing. Perhaps if we
agree to waive the $500 licence/media fee, they'll pass on the result of their
analysis in return?

If this tool does BLISS and MACRO too, then maybe the DECnet-Plus team would be
interested?
