64.0. "Netscape" by STAR::MEZZANO (What's up, doc?) Mon Mar 17 1997 13:48
NETSCAPE COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION
YEAR 2000 COMPLIANCE
November 27, 1996
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR 2.02, 3.0, AND 3.01
Netscape Communications Corporation confirms that Navigator 2.02, 3.0, and
3.01 have been tested extensively to certify that the software should
properly process and use dates before, during, and after the transition from
December 31, 1999, to January 1, 2000, provided the underlying operating
system (OS) of the host machine is year 2000 compliant.
Netscape performed operational tests of the history, cache, bookmarks,
cookies, mail, Java, and JavaScript functionality of the software using a
number of dates including, but not limited to December 31, 1999; January 1,
2000; February 28, 2000; February 29, 2000; March 1, 2000; and dates
following the year 2000 (to the limits of the platforms' operating systems).
According to our tests, Navigator should not abnormally end or provide
incorrect or invalid results due to date data, including dates that
represent a different century, provided the underlying OS and other software
are year 2000 compliant.
There is no user interface for input of date data into the software. Display
of date information through the user interface is dependent on the date data
provided by the underlying OS, and should be correct if that OS is year 2000
compliant. Concerns regarding year 2000 compliance of the host OS or other
software should be directed to the OS or software provider.
Netscape will continue to test future versions of Netscape Navigator for
year 2000 compliance.

I've seen a few reports that Navigator falls over in 2038...

| re .2
They might argue that that is covered by their disclaimer regarding the
underlying operating system (viewing the C RTL as being provided with
VMS if you are talking about Netscape running under VMS).
