Hi
I take the RC3.22 of Linkworks (OSFORA322RC1.TAR) from ijsapl::<kits.rel322)
, and I install it on a DIGITAL 200O ALPHA server UNIX 3.2 / ORACLE 7.3
There are several database managed by ORACLE on this server.
The client is a PC WNT 4.0 Workstation (W32RC1.EXE).
The protocol is TCP/IP.
It was the first installation of Linkworks on this server.
During the installation, I had the following problems.
1 - I comment the line for the instmgmt procedure
su -oracle -c "test -f / $(ORACLE_HOME) / dbs / sgadef*.dbf" >
/dev/NULL 2 > &1
in the file checkdb.sh in /usr/op/servers
because the process is waiting, do nothing (CPU) and I have no
message.
With this commented line, I have no particular problem during the
instmgmt procedure. At the end, the am and cm process are running.
One for TCP/IP, the other one for decnet. (I have both TCP/IP and
decnet protocol on the server).
2 - Copy the libade.so and libpdm.so in the /usr/lib because the
process bgqproc was not started.
The PC installation is OK.
When I start Linkworks from the PC, the "cache" is loaded. I obtain the
"connection window". I enter the username "omdba" and the password, and I
have the message "CELL1 IS NOT AVAILABLE".
Following the content of the file ER-10-97 in the directory
/usr/lnx322/srv/osfora/cell/users/

Did 'instcell' run without problems? Are all services started during startcell? Do you see any celld processes runing? Jos

Well, I run out of guesses. As it seems from the first note, that the celld could not connect to 'localhost'. You can try to ping to localhost, but that works probably fine. How far do you get anyway? You get a login dialog but on 'OK' you get cell not available or something like that? Jos
| 141.8 | that's right | LYOV00::ARPEGE::BEAL | Wed May 21 1997 17:55 | 7 | |
That's right.
On the client PC, I obtain the login dialog but on 'OK', I have the
message " CELL IS NOT AVAILABLE".
Is there any Problem with "access right" on the database ?
Perhaps I have to "reboot" the server ?

Andre, Yes pls, if you did not already try that, reboot the server. At least inetd etc are fresh started as well. That is still an area theat I suspect because of the error reported in .0 And check your system for more error files (.err and also .log). Jos
