In 3.0.8, when a (for the current user) searchable object is in a non-searchable compound object (e.g. a Personal Folder of someone else) then the current user can see the name of that compound with AboutTheObject-Location after having found the searchable object. This seems to be no longer the case with 3.2, where AboutTheObject -Location only gives your own locations and -Shares only gives the names of the users having a share somewhere. The latter doesn't tell you where these users have put the shares. I hope that this is what engineering wanted. I don't think it is a good idea to reveal names of Personal objects to other people. Of course you can still reveal names of Personal objects by placing them inside a searchable compound object (the other way around compared to the case mentioned above). Then the user who has found the compound just has to double-click it to see all the names of the objects inside. Ren.

Yes, this is what is intended. > Of course you can still reveal names of Personal objects by placing > them inside a searchable compound object (the other way around compared > to the case mentioned above). Then the user who has found the compound > just has to double-click it to see all the names of the objects inside. That is the responsability of the owner. If (s)he does not want the names to be visible for other people, then the objects should not be put into a searchable compound object. In 3.0.8, the owner could not prevent that the names were seen by others. Minne |
