101.4The Customer is a bit afraid about themGENIE::16.184.48.153::genie::tschanzWed Feb 12 1997 10:2414
Hi paul and Minne,

i spoke about them with the Customer. They dont't untestand to use more
than one
Search-Tool. Why is this so difficult to implement this as option in the
Search-Tool?

This Customer (Gruppe Rstung, 800 User has also v3.2.0 on a Test-Server)
need to 80% the Acrt for Feedback and for Notification with the restriction
that is not searchable yet.

Could you discuss this with the Engineering, please

It was not the intention to create a new search tool at all. Because of
limited resources we always have to make choices between what to implement and
what to leave as it is.

We know there is (a lot of) room for improvement in the search tool but still,
you can search with it. The query language had severe limitations. You couldn't find
more then a certain number of objects in one search. The search was done serial
across all cells. You couldn't retrieve attributes during the search etc.
So the choice was made to improve the query interface such that it is possible for
people in the field to create their own search tool if they are not satisfied with the
current one.

In order to be sure that these query extensions are sufficient and perform well,
engineering created a kind of test search tool to test the new functionality. Now
since we have this test tool, we might as well give it to the field.

Jos
