3964.0. "Remote Terminal Process Rundown Problem" by CSC32::D_BROWN (Dave Brown CSC-VSG/INTDRV) Thu May 15 1997 18:44
OSI V6.3 ECO6
AlphaVMS V6.2-1H3
I'm working with a customer whose users log into node A and then set
host to node B to run their application which includes calls to FMS. If
the original process on node A terminates, the process on node B goes
into a COMpute loop until it is stopped. It loops within FDV$SHR, the
FMS sharible library.
Now for the strange part. If the users connect to node B with Telnet,
the node B process terminates when the node A process does. And also if
the application is run in a subprocess on node B, all node B processes
terminate when the node A process terminates. Plus this only happens
with one of their applications.
So they've only got a problem when set host to node B and running their
application in the node B parent process. All other combinations seem
to work fine. This is 100% reproduceable.
Does anyone have any ideas on this? It almost sounds like a
SYS$RTTDRIVER or SYS$CTDRIVER problem.
Thanks,
Dave
