3922.0. "What kind of X.25 circuits are supported for HBR ?" by MANEGE::AURAND () Mon Apr 07 1997 05:31

Hi,

I have to give a presentation about the new DECnet-Plus features and I am a
little bit confused about what kind of X.25 routing circuits are supported
under DECnet-Plus for OpenVMS Alpha and VAX (DA and/or Static) if host based
routing is enabled

Both SPDs mentioned that 'Dynamic connections over X.25 networks' are supported
and the VAX SPD says the following in the X.25 part:

'X.25 allows the use of DECnet-Plus facilities over static X.25 dircuits.
These circuits are called statically assigned circuits.'

But I couldn't find anything about X.25 DA circuits.

Before I tell something wrong to our customer it would be very nice, if
someone can tell me, what exactly is supported under DECnet-Plus

	Many thanks in advance

Static circuits are supported. DA circuits are not supported (but work[ed]).

3922.2Any plans ?TAGAUS::AURANDMon Apr 07 1997 08:4510
    Hi Antonio,

    are there any plans to support X.25 DA circuits for HBR in a future
    release ?

    Just to be sure: X.25 DA Circuits are still supported for Endsystems ?

    	Many thanks for your help

That's up to Routing ... I don't know what the plans are. I think the decision
to support only X.25 static circuits was because HBR is supposed to appease
those customers that want to have the same functionality as they had with Phase
IV, so that is what has been done. The code that I tested worked fine doing both
Link State and Routing Vector over both X.25 static and DA circuits. Link State
was disabled because of a system crasher found late in EFT. There is nothing I
know of to stop you using X.25 DA circuits.

Definitely.
