3883.0. "tsm slow, once more" by BACHUS::DOBBENI () Fri Feb 21 1997 08:20
Hello,
Several notes are pointing to problems with TSM and decnet/osi, apperently the
latest versions of those procucts are solving most of those problems but our
customer is still complaining.
He is using VAX-VMS with DECNET-OSI 6.3 eco 5 and TSM 2.1-5. A reply to the
note 3200 in the decnet-osi_for_vms conference told that this should be the
correct versions, but.... a TSM> SHO SERVER ALL command takes aprox 2 seconds
for each server where this was immediate with decnet phase 4 (5 sec for 103
decservers, 4 minutes for the same servers with osi). We are aware of the fact
that it could be slower with old terminal servers (cfr release notes), but we
have the same behaviour with all kind of servers. A trace shows that the 2
seconds delay are between a receive of a decserve and a new request on the mop
circuit.
Where does this delay come from? What is mop doing? How can we avoid this?
Best Regards,
Mia Dobbeni
