731.0. "How to configure the schedule to use 5 slots?" by HGOV08::EDMONDLEUNG () Mon Jun 02 1997 09:19
Hi,
One of our customers just installed the TZ885 jukebox with 4.2B NSR
running on the 4100 system. System is running DUNIX 4.0B and with
Tier-1 jukebox license installed.
Now this customer wants to use the schedule to backup 5 different
directories on 5 different tapes which are located in 5 different
TZ885 slots. Assuming each tape has enough capacity to hold all the
information in each directory, can we configure the schedule to achieve
this backup scheudle? If yes, how to do the configuration (or which is
the right document we can refer to this setup)?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Rgds,
Edmond

| Check out the use of pools. Create multiple entries for the
client specifing the data to be backed up in the file systems
field and assigning each to a different pool.
This is very error prone since it is easy to miss data and
never know it until somebody wants it back and it requires
manual intervention to relabel the tapes. But if this
is what they want...

Sounds like they are quite new to Networker...
First thing to ask them is WHY do they want to do it like that.
Do whatever you can to convince them that they should not do anything
like that - will cause them a lot of headaces as stated in -1.
