Hi It appears that I'm using NetWorker Client for Digital UNIX V4.2B on an DEC OSF/1 V3.0B system. I've read the Installation Guide, and I don't even know how we got this installed, as the latest NetWorker client for this version of OSF is V3.1A. What should I do? Rip out V4.2B, and install V3.1A? Thanks! tl # savegroup -vp 'Testing Work' cimb1.hlo.dec.com:/ level=incr cimb1.hlo.dec.com:/usr level=incr cimb1.hlo.dec.com:/var level=incr cimb1.hlo.dec.com:/common level=incr cimb1.hlo.dec.com:/common/axp/oracle level=incr cimb1.hlo.dec.com:/cimjet_user1 level=incr cimb1.hlo.dec.com:/cimjet_user2 level=incr cimb1.hlo.dec.com:/cimjet_user3 level=incr 5/27/97 10:42:05 savegroup: Run up to 12 clients in parallel 5/27/97 10:42:05 savegroup: cimb1.hlo.dec.com:probe started savefs -s nw127192.hlo.dec.com -g Testing Work -p -l full -R -v -F / /usr /var /common /common/axp/oracle /cimjet_user1 /cimjet_user2 /cimjet_user3 5/27/97 10:42:10 savegroup: cimb1.hlo.dec.com:probe succeeded. rcmd cimb1.hlo.dec.com, user root: `savefs -s nw127192.hlo.dec.com -g "Testing Work" -p -l full -R -v -F / /usr /var /co mmon /common/axp/oracle /cimjet_user1 /cimjet_user2 /cimjet_user3' asavegrp: authtype nsrexec type: NSR client description; pools supported: Yes; arch: decaxp; CPU type: alpha; CPUs: 2; hosts: 1; IP address: 16.127.192.110; kernel arch: OSF1; License units: 1100; NAS Client: No; ->>>OS: OSF1 V3.0; ->>>version: V4.2B;

I think we haven't tested this combination. Does it seem to work? Wes

Re .1, yep. Re .2, agreed, but not mine to say. I'm leaning to removing V4.2B via nsr_ize -u, and installing V3.1A of NetWorker. Any thoughts or concerns? tl

The perferred solution would be to upgrade both OS and NetWorker to current levels. If upgrading the OS is not possible, then you should revert NetWorker to 3.1A. Later versions of NetWorker are built on 3.2x of the OS, and forward compatibility is not guaranteed by the operating system. Note that you may not be able to recover data with NSR V3.1A if the data was saved on a 4.2a system of NetWorker. Kevin

Thanks, both, for the reminders. tl |
