hi I have the opportunity to play around with NSR/HSM , by the way : nice product I installed it, had a quick look in the man pages and everything worked fine within half an hour ! Doing some tests I noticed the following which I cannot find any direct explanation for : - Pre migration started and reported about 14 914 files (total of 435 MB), the only paremeter I used was owner (NO min size ...) - Migration reports tells me only 9450 file(269 MB) are really replaced with a stub I used very large margins for high and low watermark to be sure all pre migrated files had a change to be migrated. Looking in my file system I saw that all files called 0000000.sys were not migrated whatever the file size was : 56 or 120 bytes. I thought perhaps there is no migration when file is smaller then the stub which in this case always is 86 bytes ? Any clue ? regina

NetWorker HSM has a lower file size limit of 1K, meaning files smaller than this will not be migrated (although they might be spotted by the pre-migration scanner and saved in the save set). This needs to be better documented, both by us (it'll probably be added to the FAQ soon) and Legato (cross your fingers) steve. |
