unfortunately, we're not recommending Networker HSM for things anywhere near
this range.

There is a big difference between supporting (working) and being a sufficient
solution for the customer. It might work, but we really doubt anyone would be
happy with the performance (we're talking orders of magnitude, not just a few
more minutes).

Quick Architecture Lesson:

For NetWorker HSM to work, it must generate a saveset containing all of the
files eligible for migration (this is call "pre-migration"). Think about how
long it would take to create the initial save set, and then how long
individual file retrievals from that save set would take. The advantage of
integration with the NetWorker server is also the biggest bottleneck.

For alternative (non-DIGITAL) solutions, you might try contacting our Product
Manager Craig Huber (DECWET::HUBER, or [email protected]). If you wish to
discuss square peg/round hole solutions send email to [email protected]
and I'll see what we can come up with.
