If your tape drive is disabled, use the NetWorker
admin program with the -x option, i.e.
winadmin -s <your_server> -x. In the Media->
Devices->highlight tape drive by clicking on it->
Edit window, go to the Enabled field and change
it to Yes.
Have you had any errors with the drive? Is it licensed
ok?

I haven`t had any error. The server and autochanger licenses are ok.
I call my customer and wait for try.
Why don`t I create another tape device?
Thanks for your reply.

Hmmm, I'm not following your last note.
If the customer does what I outlined in .1 then
they will have reenabled the drive. A disabled
drive occurs from a few different problems, if
the problem continues they will need to know
what caused the problem for them so they can
avoid any behavior which causes the problem.
If you want to delete the device, you could. You
just have to delete the jukebox first and then
later recreate the jukebox. Better to just reenable
the drive, don't you think?

My customer call me and said that:
They try winapp32\nsr\bin\winadmin -s <server name> -x command and show that
\\.\tape0(j) unmounted disable
or try that
Networker administrator icon Media-device-highlight tape0 and edit it
this windows has not any enable field.
We can`t enable the tape.Edit autochanger like
name autochanger
control port [email protected]
devices \\.\tape0 **is this ok? or this field must have four entry
like
\\.\tape0 \\.\tape1 \\.\tape2 \\.\tape3
bar code no
match bar code no
available slot 1-4
automedia mana no **jukebox is not support this
Have you got any idea?
Thanks for your reply

When one starts 'winadmin -s server_name -x' and goes to the
edit device window for the proper device, there is an Enabled
field, the fields are as follows:
Type
Name
Message
Volume name
Media family
Media type
Enabled <----
Write enabled
Volume label
Volume default capacity
Volume current capacity
Volume expiration
Volume pool
and so on...... (lots and lots of fields show up)
one will not see that field if one doesn't use the -x, and if
the example of editting the autochanger is representative,
then they are not using the -x option because you don't list
very many fields (and there are lots when using winadmin
started with -x).
please have the customer try again, I don't know how to
explain this any better after this, but they don't see many
fields then it is a big clue they aren't using the -x option.
thanks,
Amy

| On the device window it does not show the values in the
list pop up. There are two tiny tiny arrows on the list box
that pops up when you double click the field. Use these
arrows to change the value. It is easy to miss.
