698.0. "V4.3 doc problem/suggestion" by SANITY::LEMONS (And we thank you for your support.) Wed May 21 1997 09:22

    Hi

    I've been prowling through the NetWorker Server for Digital UNIX V4.3
    documentation (available from
    ftp://ftp.zso.dec.com/pub/networker/documentation/V4.3/ )

    I noticed that the UNIX_USER.PS and ADMIN_GUIDE.PS fils are for
    NetWorker V4.2C, not V4.3. Please provide the latest versions of this
    documents/files.

    Also, please consider naming all of the files with the brx430 prefix;
    this will make it much easier to track what version of NetWorker the
    file documents.

    Thanks!

The Admin Guide and User Guide were not updated for version 4.3. This
information is stated in the cover letter. There were no changes
required for those docs, so they were not touched.

<bwe> we'll look over the naming of the rest of the docs for our next release.
 Sometimes we don't have choices, the names are dictated by a release process.

    Thanks for checking, Bruce; sorry I didn't get this from the release
    notes.

The next set of docs should change significantly,
so I'll bet they get the same versioning as the kit.
698.5Docs -to rev or not to revDECWET::MEIKLEWed May 21 1997 14:564
There are no plans to rev the User Guide or the Admin Guide for the next release
of Networker on DIGITAL UNIX, so those books will continue to have Version 4.2C on
the covers. It is just not cost effective to rev the books if the only thing
changing is the version number.

re: .4,

Sorry, I forgot about 4.4 for unix, since I don't consider it
a separate version (same code base as 4.3), I spoke too soon.
Docs from Legato are changing a lot for future releases,
for better I think.
