That info is what we needed to determine your problem.
To be able to backup your exchange or sql data you need
a server which is capable of pre/post processing... i.e.
you need to have a server on Digital UNIX at version
4.2A or higher.
3.1A is pretty old. We've since released 3.2, 3.2A, 4.2A, 4.2B,
and 4.2C. I suggest you upgrade to 4.2B which is the most
recent version which supports Digital UNIX 3.2C. Please
also check out the patch topic.

ps: when I asked for system type, I was asking
for info such as, it's a 2100A, Alphastation 10,000,
etc.. that is the type of info we might need to
recreate a problem, or be as close as possible.
