Hi, everyone. Why you need to keep always a mounted default tape while doing the backup operation to another. All indexes and bootsrap operations are already saved in disk. What is so important to be written in this default tape ? Manoel F. Abreu Neto (MCS/DEC@Rio)

It is important to save the indexes to tape because, if you lose the disk that your server's indexes are on, you can't recover any client data until you recover the server indexes. If you can't recover server indexes because they were never saved, you're out of luck. You can, however, save indexes to other-than-Default pools by setting up a pool which will accept level 9 saves from the server. Kevin |
