Hi, The following questions have been submitted, by a customer: 1. What happens with "open" files, during backup ? 2. Is it possible to backup DNS database, running on Vovell Version 4.11 ? 3. Can we estimate the time it takes to recover a file, whose index is not on the disk ? Thanks, Avi [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

>1. What happens with "open" files, during backup ? If NetWorker can read the file, then NetWorker tries to back it up. If the file changes during backup, an error is generated. If the file is open for exclusive access, then NetWorker can't read it and will not back it up. The Open File Manager product from St. Bernard software facilitates the backup of open files. Details are available at http://www.stbernard.com. >2. Is it possible to backup DNS database, running on Vovell Version 4.11 ? Do you really mean NDS (NetWare Directory Services)? If so, NetWorker knows how to backup NDS. |
