| Make sure that the command 'ping idssrv1.cxo.dec.com' works from a command
window on the server and clients. If that doesn't work then something is
wrong with network name resolution.

| able to do pings and tracert to all the client nodes that NETWORKER could
not get to.
put together a batch job and just ping'd all the nodes. have selected the
group and started it. will see what is the results of this run.
There are 23 clients and 23 errors all RPC Unknown node.

Topic 55 is the troubleshooting topic for Windows NT issues.
To start, check out if your portmapper is running on the
server ok, if any other portmappers are running, etc..
Try starting the portmappers on the clients and see if
that makes a difference.
Please check out the rpcinfo information in 55.2, please
also check out just using nsr_ping (55.8 & 55.9).
If this isn't useful, we'll probably want output along
the lines of the nsrsup.bat file (except I really am not
interested in the daemon log and other really long files).

| You definitely want to check whether the clients can
resolve both the long and short versions of the server's
hostname. The error you are seeing is typically a
result of problems with name binding.
Any problem client will do, you don't have to check all
23. It's a systemic problem, it seems.

| using note 55, have populated HOST and LMHOSTS with all the node names.
able to ping all the clients. none are DHCP. all Static IP addresses.
Have configured the client IDSSRV1 (which is also the server) into the Default
group and started it.
