Last Friday I got a call from the customer and they said NSR would not start. We tried restarting it without luck. The daemon.log did not record anything only nsr starting and thats it. NSRD then cored. We tried it multiple times without luck. We deinstalled NSR and reinstalled it, no luck. We then moved the resource files to *.old and tried to start it. It started and stayed up. We had no resources but we did have NSR. The next day we used nsradmin to read the *.old file and nwadmin to add back the resources. The question is what happened? We have 80 clients with several groups and spent a bit of time restoring the system. I have copied the entire /nsr filesystem and can send or view anything to resolve this. Any ideas on deteriming what happened?

As a swag, I'd guess that somebody got curious and started poking around in the res file with an editor, and bungled it. Kevin

Missing info DUNIX 4.0b NSR 4.2b Sorry about that I am sure nobody started poking the res files with an editor. The customer admin folks use the NT based admin tools for everything. They are not unix people and have no desire to be.
