A customer has a Sun Legato server and they tested a Digital Unix client with it and it is working OK but they have also a Digital UNIX cluster. As far as I could find out there are no cluster clients from Legato for Digital UNIX but still Legato told the customer it should work. Anyone made it work ? Thanks Regina

TIME OUT !! Let me be VERY clear here: Digital are the ONLY vendors who produce NetWorker client software for the Digital UNIX platform. Period. Thus, if they have a recent Digital UNIX NetWorker client, that means that it is from us, and it WILL work correctly with clusters. One of the cornerstones of the Legato architecture is that ANY client should back up correctly to ANY server. To my knowledge we have not broken that. The ONLY piece that is missing when you back up a TruCluster to a non-Digital server is that the server will not recognize the cluster services as being a part of the same cluster. Thus, your Sun server will charge you one connection license for each cluster host, AND for each service being backed up. Other than that, it'll all work. Kevin

Manu, I hid your note because it could be interpreted as saying that a Digital UNIX cluster could not be backed up correctly to a non-Digital server. This is not the case, and I did not want any incorrect impressions to go out. Kevin
