I have a customer who would like to connect an existing HP 120T Jukebox to an Alpha and use the NSR HSM product recently annouced in Ver 4.2C. I have checked the SPD (50.98) and the nearest info on support for HP is the 60/100. Is this a family of products that includes the 120T or are they completely different ?? Any help appreciated JanZ Storage Sales Specialist (UK)

If the HP120T is not in the SPD it is not supported. It may work but we have not tested with it. | |||||

Just as I thought and expected but it's worth the question !! On another related topic regarding using CD Jukebox's with NSR/HSM the SPD states the use of the SCSI CAM s/w to "support the media handling of optical devices", does this negate the uses of the OSMS product or is this also required ?? Not only is OSMS not required, but the two do not get along very well. OSMS uses a modified version of CLC that is not compatable with the newer versions used by NetWorker. We hope a future release of OSMS will fix this. Even if they could be on the same system they can not share a jukebox. OSMS is used to make a jukebox full of platters look like a lot of disks. NetWorker uses the same type of device as a place to store backups, archives, and HSM migrations. |
