557.0. "ASE service, always level=full...???" by BACHUS::DIDDEN () Sun Apr 06 1997 05:12

    Is there any reason why NetWorker ( V4.2B with all patches applied )
    always takes a full_level backup of an ASE V1.3 service ?
    The ase service is an NFS service ( ADVFS on an LSM volume, containing
    rather important informations ).

    The backups get launched with a schedule defined on the NetWorker
    server, each time it gets kicked of it says that no cycles were found
    in the database and therefore starts a full level backup.

    As such it is not so bad since the backup is taken succesfully,
    however it makes use of much more tape(s) as would be needed when
    following the intended schedule ( full/incremmantl(s) ).
    Is there anything I can do about this .....????

    Your advises are very welcome ..!

For some reason NetWorker is not recognizing the ASE service name
as one that has been previously backed up. This sometimes
happens if the ASE service name is mixed case.

savegroup -pnv -G <groupname> should provide useful information.

    Hi Geert,

    Also, NSR is very sensitive to the position of the Service Alias in
    /etc/hosts. If the service is called nfsosf, then:

    10.11.12.13 nfsosf NFSOSF nfsosf1	->     working !!!
    10.11.12.13 NFSOSF nfsosf nfsosf1   -> NOT working !!!
    10.11.12.13 nsfosf1 NFSOSF nfsosf   -> NOT working !!!

    Maybe, the order has been changed in /etc/hosts...

    Manu.
