524.0. " automatic and manual client backup in the same pool" by EVTAI1::POUSSARD () Tue Mar 25 1997 08:19

	Hi,

A customer is running NetWorker for UNIX 3.2A server kit.
I know it's an old version, but at this time, customer don't want
    to upgrade.

He has an NT Intel client which he is configuring in a separate
group A

He wants that automatic backup and manual backup for that client go to
     the same pool.

	1) he configures the pool, with the group A attached to this pool,
and level incr,9 full,manual selected.

------>	When he configures like that, automatic backup go to the
correct pool, but manual saves ask for a default pool.

	2) he configures the pool, with no group attached to, but NT client
name in the pool's client field selected and incr,9, full, manual selected.

------> When he configures like that, manual pool go to the correct
pool, but automatic save ask for the default pool

How to configure exactly all pool's field, to have manual and
automatic client NT backup going on this pool

	Thanks for your reply

	Gilles.

Turn off all groups.

Put the clients you want into the client list.

524.2 Saveindex asks for the default poolEVTAI1::POUSSARDWed Mar 26 1997 04:2714
If I configure the pool like you says, I mean , no group attached
to, and client of the group in the pool's client field, it works correctly
for manual saves , but for automatic save, NSR asks for the " Default pool"
when he wants to save the client's index after client's datas.

	Thanks for your help

I don't think they can have it both ways. Index saves will go
with the group or the system holding the index, which is the
server itself. Normally you want all you client indexes on
server tapes since they are only needed if the server has a data
loss. For the setup they are trying this requires a tape change
but it's the best that can be done. With a jukebox this should
not be too much of a problem.
