Hi, folks. I just finished intalling Networker 4.2b in a D.U. system V4.0a (Alpha 2100). The software is operational and I can do backups of local file systems, but now I have to install the Networker client for Novell and then comes the "twilight" zone. I know nothing about Novell so I pointed the path where the files reside in D.U. machine, and the gay copied to the Novell machine via nfs. After that he copied again from this machine to another via ipx, and finally in this target machine he made the installation. I'll try to write down the sequence of the events in the target machine. >load sys:\system\nsr\disk1\install .....Networker Installation Utility Rel 4.1..... .....some SMS stuff messages..... .....option CLIENT ONLY choosed .... .....volume SYS choosed .... .....lots of messages about files beeing read.... .....a message to put your server down and restart it.... >networkr .... INITIALIZING.... ....error message: PROGRAM NOT REGISTERED.... ....error message: UNABLE TO CONNECT TO SERVER XYZ.... The owfull thing is that server XYZ is the name of this target machine, when I thought it should be the name of the D.U. machine, but it never asked about the server name. Thanks in advance for any help or may be just a pointer. Regards. Manoel F. Abreu Neto (MCS/DEC@Rio)

Manoel, Here's something to try. Perform the following: 1. Create a NETWORKR.INI file in the root directory of the SYS volume. Enter the line: default server = <NetWorker_server_name> This line must refer to a valid, designated NetWorker server. Or, if necessary, edit the NETWORKR.INI file. Edit the line: default server = <NetWorker_server_name> to refer to a valid, designated NetWorker server. 2. Verify and, if necessary, edit the NETWORKR.NCF file. The line: -s server_name must specify the name of a valid, designated NetWorker server.

Unfortunately the customer said that even after the procedures mentioned in the previous note, the problem still remains. Only then he told me that the Novell system in fact is a SFT III. Could this be a problem for the product installation ? MFAN(MCS/DEC@Rio)
