I have a customer who has a TZ88 running NT/NSR 4.3 on a NT 3.51 system. NSR reports that the TZ88 is 100% full even though it only has 10gig of information, and is uncompressed. Should'nt it be able to hold 20gig uncompressed? Is there a problem with NSR not reporting the proper values, or is it a tape driver problem? Ed Whittington NT/Backoffice

NSR reports a tape's percent full based on the capacity that it thinks that the tape can hold. Now there is only one designation, dlt, so it probably defaults to 10GB. One can change the capacity when labelling, see the descriptions of the command line functions for such. Note that the 'percent full' is informational only, NSR will not stop writing to the tape until it gets to the end of the tape. When the tape is marked as full and no other saves are written to it, then see what amount has been written to the tape and decide if there is a problem or not. | |||||

Thanks, That makes complete sense. He changed the "volume default capacity' from the GUI \media\device and it now reports the proper percentage. Regards Ed Whittington |
