466.0. "Cluster Client questions" by COPCLU::BRIAN (Brian Krause @DMA, System Specialist) Fri Mar 07 1997 01:51

I have tried to figure out, how the Clister Client License works, but I
am not completely sure. So before I commit anything to the customer:

    Are the following statements correct:

        1. If you have a NSR server not part of a cluster and want to take
backup of disks (ASE services) on a cluster, you need a cluster
    	   client license.

    	2. You can also use the cluster client license to take backup of
disks that are not ASE services.

    	3. Even if you don't want to take backup of ASE serviced disks, but
only local disks, you need a Cluster Client license. An ordinary
    	   UNIX Client license won't do.

    Thanks in advance,
    Brian.

    Thanks for the info.

    Just one more detail...

If you want to take backup of both ASE services and local disks - do
you then need one or two Cluster Client licenses per node in the
    cluster?

    Regards and thanks.
    Brian.

There is a cookbook in note 44.1. But, to answer your question,
you need one per cluster host (one less if the NetWorker server
is in the cluster).
