439.0. "nwbackup problem with decwindows" by ALFSS2::ZURIK_E () Tue Feb 25 1997 06:50

Here is a problem description from a customer running Digital UNIX
V3.2g and NSR V4.2b. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just want to restate the problem so everyone is talking about the
    same
thing. The problem is with the nwbackup gui. The gui works just fine
*EXCEPT* in the following two situations:

            1) When nwbackup is started from a DECwindows menu
            2) When nwbackup is started via an rsh command

In the above two situations, the *ONLY* problem I encounter is that any
attempt to use the gui to back up two or more different mount points
fails. (In nwbackup, a mount point is represented by a special mount
point icon; a folder with a red hash-mark on it) When nwbackup fails
    this
way, it fails *very* quickly with the following error message:

Backup start time: Mon Feb 24 17:02:52 1997
            save: Not enough space
Backup completion time: Mon Feb 24 17:02:52 1997

Again, this is the *ONLY* problem I have encountered. If I do not
    start
nwbackup from rsh or a DECwindows menu, I can back up multiple mount
points JUST FINE. If do start nwbackup from rsh or a DECwindows menu,
    but
do not attempt to backup up multiple mount points, everything works
    JUST
FINE. The problem ONLY OCCURS when I attempt to back up multiple mount
points from an nwbackup session that was started by either rsh or a
    DECwindows session.

Also, the problem occurs when I run nwbackup on the server as well as
    on
a client, and it occurs no matter how my DISPLAY variable is set.

Hi,

I haven't personally seen this problem before, but the information provided
in the .0 is very helpful. I will try to reproduce this problem and get back
to you as soon as possible.

This is an ASE system so the patches were sent for 4.2b. I will let
    you know what happens.

Hi ,

I'm seeing a similar problem to this on a customer site.

Was this problem resolved ?

If it was , what was the solution ?

Regards

John
