    Hi all,
I'm starting a HSM field test with an optical jukebox.
I've seen that with jbm_enabler I can configure the optical jb, but I
don't know how to use it.
In other words, have I to manage it as a Tape Library ( label optical
disk, inventory ... ) or have I to use it as a mounted set of disks ?
I apologize for the trivial question, but is there somewhere docs on
how to use optical disk with HSM ( Chapter 11 of Admin Guide NSR4.3 is
    a general reference ) ?

Thanks in advance for any help !

    		Ciao

Make sure the optical jukebox uses the raw drives /rop5c /rop4c
are the defults for a two drive jukebox. Adjust depending on
your bus and target setting. Not the first drive in the
jukebox must be the first one defined, it may have a higher
device number if they are set up in the default 5, 4, 3, 2
order that new units ship with.

Now just use them like tapes. All the same procedures about
labeling, mounting and recycling work. If you look a the
documentation it normally refers to volumes, these can
be tapes or platters with no operational difference.

Your not going to find very much specific information about
opticals because once it is defined there you can't tell the
difference unless you look at the device name.
430.2Ok, it's clear !TRN02::FRASSINOFri Feb 21 1997 07:324
