423.0. "loader/jukebox license changes?" by LEXSS1::GINGER (Ron Ginger) Wed Feb 19 1997 06:45

My customer just got a letter, on bright yellow paper marked IMPORTANT,
about a license change for NSR and jukeboxes /loaders.

I cant for the life of me figure out just what this means.

    Here is the text:

As a result of a product packaging changes, Digital Multivendor
Services is sending you the LMF key for NEtworker Save and Restore for
Digital unix Jukebox Tier 1 (Ql-04UAL-3B

This key is being sent to you because you have a contract for for:
      QT-2ALA*-L9

This is a one time event that will enable you to use the same product
features you had access to before the packaging change.

    Explanation of packaging changes:

With V4.2A of NetWorker Save and Restore, a Jukebox 1 license is
    required for all loaders.

Does this mean we have removed support for all loaders from NSR, and
now all users must buy a jukebox license? and that we just gave away
free jukebox licenses to people that had loaders?

Your first sentence is right. The second need a bit of fine
tuning.

We gave away jukebox licenses to customers who have NetWorker on
a maintenance agreement. It didn't matter if they had a loader
or not.

We had enough ticked off customers from the licensing change that
we gave away the licenses, but we don't have enough visibility to
send it to just the customers who have loaders.
