414.0. "License units attributes does not match" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (Kym Schwarz) Sun Feb 16 1997 21:54

    G'day,

I have a customer who has installed networker v3.2a on digital unix
v4.0 ( let me know if this is not supported - I have not been able to
find any indication that this will not work ). He is unable to backup
and of the local directories and is getting the following error
    message:

save: error, client scrooge License units attribute does not
    match.

Initiall I thought that this was a licence issue but installing both
the client and server licences did not resolve the problem.

Does anyone know what this error message means and how to get around
    it?

    Regards

Kym,

First, can I delete notes 410, 412, 413?

Second, V3.2A is supported on DU V4.0.

Now, to address your customer's problem:

There are three patches for V3.2A, though none of them appear to
be related to this problem.

Please have the customer do the following, then post the results
here.

1) savegroup -pnv <group>
where <group> is the name of the backup group that scrooge
   belongs to.

2) nsr_shutdown, followed by
   nsrd -D3

What kind of machine is scrooge? Is it a cluster host? Also could you get
the output from the following nsradmin commands:

 # nsradmin -s scrooge
 nsradmin> option hidden
 nsradmin> print name: scrooge;

Thanks.

I got the customer to look at savefs -vpp and then set the
"License unit" field in the nwadmin/Client/Client
Setup/View/Details" window to match this licence unit.

After he did this the error messages changed:

    --- Unsuccessful Save Sets ---

    * scrooge:/ save: error, `root@oracle' is not on scrooge's remote
    access list
    * scrooge:/ save: Cannot open save session with scrooge
    * scrooge:/usr save: error, `root@oracle' is not on scrooge's remote
    access
    list
    * scrooge:index /usr/bin/saveindex: bootstrap save of server's index
    and volume
    databases failed
    * scrooge:index lpr: cannot open printer description file

Scrooge is a stand alone system at this point in time. All these
problem have occured when trying to back up the local disks. I don't
believe that the customer has tried to back up any other systems.

The customer decided to upgrade to v4.2 of networker and the problem
    went away.

Thank you for you help and time - it was much appreciated.
