You can do either automatic cloning or clone on demand.
Both devices must be connected to the NetWorker server.
NetWorker does not use remote devices.

See above.

I think NetWorker does not make a distinction between write-once
and write-many optical disks.

398.2 | SPD, support, WORM vs WMRM opticals | DECWET::EVANS | Be a Point Of Light! | Mon Feb 10 1997 10:00 | 8 |
| in the SPD, the HP opticals jukeboxes (and the Digital equivalent) are
supported by NetWorker since they behave like disks... they are random access.
This allows labelling to be done correctly (eg, in a known spot/sector)
I suspect (but cannot prove) labelling a WORM platter is more like tape,
since you can only write a sector once.
I know of no WORM drives supported by NetWorker.

398.3 | | DECWET::RWALKER | Roger Walker - Media Changers | Mon Feb 10 1997 13:35 | 11 |
| Opticals are access by NetWorker as raw devices, a simple set
of X bytes in a row. We haven't been testing with WORM media in
the RWZ drives so there could be hidden problem. Without any
current demand it hasn't been worth buying the media since it's
only good for one test.
For standard R/W media you do the same recycling that would be
done with tape. The label function will write a new header to
the first of the drive effectively erasing the old data. If this
is in a jukebox NetWorker will do this for you automatically
when the volumes expire and are needed.
