I have an nsr client, alpha nt system with 9 local partions on it,
in the client setup on the nsr server we have selected ALL partitions
be backed up. The sucessfull group completion mail comes in with only 5
of the 9 partions as being backed up, it never shows the other 4 drives...
Not as being rejected or even existing. We have looked into the
permissions granted to the partions and the 4 partions not being backed up
have very specific groups selected while the other 5 partions being backed
up have Everyone selected.
I looked at the networker remote exec and portmapper services and they
are started with system. What permissions does networker need to
backup these partions and does this need any specific accounts to have
the permissions applied to? Also why wouldn't the mail show that the
devices were not backed up for some reason?
thanks,

With NetWorker 4.3 for NT Alpha, if SYSTEM does not have full control on the NTFS device's root directory, a message similar to : --- Unsuccessful Save Sets --- : : * littlebird.zso.dec.com:E:\ 1 retry attempted : * littlebird.zso.dec.com:E:\ ! no output : will be in the savegroup completion. Since you didn't provide any detail on the version or protections, >Also why wouldn't the mail show that the >devices were not backed up for some reason? is hard to answer... Mark | |||||
