| "Backup of AdvFS File Systems for Digital UNIX Version 3.2C, 3.2D, and 3.2F -
If you are backong up a client running Digital UNIX Version 3.2C, 3.2D,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
or 3.2F, the AdvFS file system may not be saved properly. You can resolve
this AdvFS problem by either installing the consolidated AdvFS patch that
corresponds to the version of Digital UNIX you are running or upgrading your
Digital UNIX system to Version 3.2G."

NSR V4.2A was built on Digital UNIX V3.2C. It doesn't support
versions prior to Digital UNIX V3.2C (think of 3.2C as more of a
change than the letter implies). So those older clients will
not be able to run V4.2A client code, but must remain with a
version of NSR that supports 3.2/3.2B.

2 FYI's
(1) the server can upgrade anytime relative to the clients. You MUST
insure the O/S version is supported by the version of NetWorker
being upgraded.
(2) Don't upgrade to V4.2A... go straight to V4.2B when (if) you
upgrade.

364.4 | | DECWET::ONO | Software doesn't break-it comes broken | Thu Jan 30 1997 10:06 | 9 |
| Install the AdvFS patch corresponding to the O/S version.
Remember, this is an AdvFS problem that is not dependent on the
version of NetWorker you are running.
BTW, I recommend that the customer skip V4.2A and instead install
V4.2B if he has DU V3.2C or later. V4.2B is available on the
January '97 LP CD.
