Hi, I want to restore a client with his registry but without reinstalling NT . Exemple : My server is Controller of Domain with NT 3.51 . I have another boot NT on another disk with decnsr client installed. If I scratch my disk with original disk : 1. I boot NT on the other disk 2. I restore the partitions of NT 3. If I boot on the Nt restored , I have errors because he don't found registry Files. 3. I restore the registry but this registry can't install on the original NT . I restore on the second boot . IS there a solution for restoring registry without reinstalling NT and in restoring the old NT ? Thanks for Help . Philippe

I moved this note from 222 since it seems to deserve it's own string. Wes Ono NETWORKER moderator | |||||

What you are trying to do is not supported. You are restoring boot system 1's Registry to boot system 2, not system 1 as you desire. To do what you want, first restore only the disk for boot system 1 while booted under system 2. Then boot system 1. It's likely its Registry will be corrupt, since you've restored it in an unsupported way; however, the system will basically work. Now restore the Registry via the documented means. Mark |
