hi, the client has bought all the required subsets from digital, the Polycenter Networker Server as well as the Legato client. these are some questions regarding the OS/2 client that comes to mind... 1) what file on the OS/2 machine does *NSR* use to detect an NSR server on the net. 2) what all remote commands are required to be active on the OS/2 client? Besides that, what i need is a Service Delivery Kit for NSR if it is available in any form with Digital. We have to implement this kind of a project at many sites and a structured approach towards the project is required. Do i need to contact the product manager for Polycenter products for this? can i have the email address please? Thanx in advance for your help. regards sudhir...

I don't know if the installed file structure is exactly the same on OS2, but on W95, and WNT, the file in the directory NSR\RES\SERVERS specifies which servers the client will respond to and look for. However, if this file does not exist, NetWorker clients will broadcast to the subnet (I believe that's the limit) a request that NetWorker servers identify themselves. The message you posted in .0 seems related to this. In general, a NetWorker client requires portmapper and a remote exec daemon. In the W95 client, these are rolled into a single process which runs iconized. In WNT, these are separate NT servers. Unfortunately, I've never seen an OS2 client, so I can't answer specifically for what is required on that os. However, the OS2 client documentation should have some answers, have you referenced it? 326.7 | help on os2 client | XFMV01::DIVYESH | Fri Jan 24 1997 21:55 | 15
There is no proper documentation on os2 client. We tried modifying server name in tcpip configuration file. File is c:\tcpip\etc\hosts. It uses server name while telnet, ftp and ping. Also rsh command from os2 client works properly. We also tried enabling portmapper and rexec but no success. We don't have local LEGATO product support group here so any help or feedback on this will help us a lot. Thanks in advance. Divyesh

What are the names of both client and server? What version of NetWorker are you running on the Digital UNIX system? Wes
