268.2 | How can Customers get 4.3? | CSC32::K_MEADOWS | | Sat Feb 22 1997 13:04 | 10 |
| I just visited
www.systems.digital.com/DIcatalog/html
/toc-System-and-Network-Management.html
Trying to find out how to order 4.3 but all I see is 4.2. Can someone
please update this to include 4.3?
What is the order number for 4.3?
thx

268.3 | Actually, even though it is out of date, the literature section isn't (weird, eh?) | DECWET::LENOX | Why is DECdirect so out of date? | Sun Feb 23 1997 16:59 | 12 |

If you click on NetWorker Save and Restore (#7 under storage management),
go down the page and click on POLYCENTER NetWorker Save and Restore for
Windows NT Alpha, V4.2A (under literature), then you will see the
current SPD (with order numbers and stuff).
I suggest that when looking for the current SPD, use the search
available on Digital's web pages (see www.digital.com), go to the
Site Search and Browse Utility section, click on Software Product
Descriptions and enter the word NetWorker in the search field, it
will bring up all the latest SPDs which mention NetWorker, much
easier than plowing through DECdirect.

268.4 | Is QA-560AA-H8 an alternative? | VFOVAX::ZITELMAN | | Mon Mar 03 1997 06:53 | 18 |

Another part number appears to be Networker V4.3 for Alpha/NT 4.0
which saves the customer $1200.00 at list price.
The part number is QA-560AA-H8, with a price of $300 (as opposed
to $1500 for QA-XYXAE-H8).
According to SSB, this is Networker V4.3 for Alpha NT CD and Doc.
Please note that VTX/PRICE shows it as V4.2x, but SSB said this was
not correct. It is indeed V4.3.
If the customer only wants the Alpha/NT client software for NT4.0,
is this indeed a less expensive way to order?
Thanks,
Jeff

| No, you need a license. The media and documentation
will only provide an evaluation system that works
for 30 days.

Let me ask the question a different way:
If the customer already has a license, is it indeed less expensive to
use the QA-560AA-H8 instead of the QA-XYXAE-H8?
Thanks,
Jeff

| If the customer already has a NetWorker Server license and are
upgrading from V4.2A to V4.3, you will need to get them a new license.
Legato changed this in V4.3 and since we are "bug-for-bug" compatible
you will need to get the customer a new license (enabler). Work with
Jill Browne (NetWorker on NT product manager). Her e-mail is
[email protected].

hmm, .7 is confusing for me to read.
The old licenses work with the V4.3 code. We don't sell the
old licenses anymore but they work. I don't see why anyone
should have to trade in their old licenses unless they didn't
have TurboPak before and want it now - the time one can order
the old TurboPak license is/was limited.
